COVID19 UPDATE

What Sbenati Dentistry is doing to ensure your safety, the safety of your family, and that of our team

To our valued patients

We are in an unprecedented time, with the majority of businesses closed and everyone ordered to stay at home, in order to flatten the curve and halt the spread of COVID19.  Our dental office has been running on a modified schedule to be able to provide emergency dental treatments to all patients.  We have implemented a screening program, as well as free online dental consultations for emergencies only. That way Dr. Sbenati will be able to assess and manage your emergency online, and if necessary, we will provide emergency treatment in-office.  We appreciate you understanding that we need to postpone all non-emergency treatments until a later date.

At Sbenati Dentistry, we have always followed strict standards of Infection Prevention and Control in accordance with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), in order to protect our team members and our patients.

In addition to these strict infection prevention and control guidelines, we are taking extra precautions at this time to allow us to treat emergency patients.

Additional safety measures

1) Surgically Clean-Air: Medical-Grade Air Purification system in every treatment room

a. Decreases pollutants

i. Turns around 99.9989% of air particles (including COVID-19 virus particles) in 4-6 minutes, to deliver fresh air free of pathogens (viruses, bacteria, and fungi)

ii. 6 stage filtration & sterilization process: these systems don’t just filter pollutants, they also destroy them. They remove particles including Odors, Gases, Mold, Allergens, and Viruses.

iii. Proprietary HEPA-Rx filters meet or exceed the guidelines for general surgery applications. HEPA-Rx filters have been independently tested to remove 99.998% of particles at 0.1 microns in size.

b. Increases comfort

Surgically clean-air eliminates the polluted-air particles that cause headaches, fatigue, itchy eyes, dry skin, coughing, sneezing, and the need for inhalers.

c. Improves morale

Our patients and our team members will appreciate the noticeably fresher air and the fact that we care so much about their comfort and health.

d. Reduces patient anxiety

A major source of dental anxiety is the odor in dental clinics. At Sbenati Dentistry, we take extra care to ensure no dental odor is present, and with the surgically clean-air purification system, this measure is taken to another level. Be comfortable knowing no dental smells will be present at Sbenati Dentistry.

2) All-Clear Disinfectants

a. SteraMist Binary Ionization Technology (BIT): Kills bacteria, fungi, and viruses

SteraMist Binary Ionization Technology (BIT), is a patented two-step process that activates and ionizes a 7.8% Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) sole active ingredient based solution into a fine mist/fog known as ionized Hydrogen Peroxide (iHP).  iHP contains a high concentration of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), consisting mostly of hydroxyl radicals (OH) and is the most effective killing agent. OH are one of the most powerful oxidizing agents in nature, and during TOMI’s iHP process, kills bacteria and fungal spores and inactivates viral cells by destroying their proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. This leads to the cellular disruption and/or dysfunction allowing for the quick decontamination of targeted areas, objects and large spaces.

b. Zoono Z71 Surface Protector surface protectant

A surface application that prevents pathogenic accumulation (such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses) on all surfaces in the dental clinic.

3) Routine use of rubber dams

a. Maintaining the standard: As per the standard guidelines of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) and in accordance with the Canadian Dental Association, the Ontario Dental Association, Sbenati Dentistry has always used

b. Rubber dams are the standard when performing root canal treatments.

c. Routine dentistry: In taking further precautions, we will now be using rubber dams during our routine dentistry, including fillings, crowns, bridges, and cosmetic works (which includes composite and porcelain veneers)

d. Benefits of rubber dams: Severely reduces risk of bio-aerosols and reduces risk of contamination of oral micro-organisms in the blood and/or saliva.

4) Wiping down all surfaces after every patient
